Check Out LED 4" High Piano Lamp in Black with Brass Finish for $214.91

LED 4" High Piano Lamp in Black with Brass Finish Review

Just what you want in a piano lamp. It evenly lights two open pages of sheet music. The light is glare free. There is no light leakage at the top to hurt your eyes. It is lightweight with a heavy base so you never have to worry about it falling on the keys. Minimalist design makes it complement any piano.

I wish I had bought it here right away for a few more bucks. I found it cheaper at a piano lamp site and after dealing for many weeks with a lady who ran a fake stockless shop out of her home I finally canceled that order and got it here quickly with no hassles.

Installing a Stained Glass Lamp Above Pool Table

As with any indoor sport you need a sufficient amount of light above a pool table. Pool table lights are often placed at the ceiling above pool table. These lights must be strong enough without hurting the eyes. This way, the players can clearly see the table, as well as the balls. Most pool table tops are deep green, and with poor lighting it is difficult to see anything but the green. Not only that, but a good light over a pool table also adds to the ambiance of the room. So much that people like to add neon lights around the perimeter of the room, in the darker areas, for an added effect.

If you want to install a stained glass lamp above your pool table, you should choose a light that has at least four 100-watt light bulbs in it. Modern lamps provide sharp looks and different colors to fit any lifestyle. You should consider height of the ceiling and room capacity when choosing the right lamp.

The lamp should provide an adequate amount of light over the entire pool table. Also, the bottom of the light should hang down between 30 and 35 inches from the top of the table. Be aware that this type of lamp is usually heavy because of the thick glass and metal that frames it. You don't want a stained glass lamp to fall down from the ceiling, do you? To avoid this possibility, you'll need to secure the lamp in a special way, as opposed to a light weight lamp.

To start with, you'll need to remove any existing light before you proceed. If the light you're installing is a swag stained glass lamp that hangs from a chain on the ceiling, then you'll only have to install a metal hook for the lamp to hang on. To do this securely, you'll need to use a stud finder to locate a stud in the ceiling. You need to locate a stud as close as you can to the spot where you want the stained glass lamp to hang. Mark the found spot, and then use an electric drill to carefully bore a starter hole in the ceiling. Then, insert the metal hook and turn the threads into the ceiling as far as it will go. Finally, hang the swag stained glass lamp up on the hook, and run the decorative chain and wire up and out of the way.

On the other hand, if the stained glass lamp needs to be connected to an electrical box above it, then you'll need to install it to an existing one. If no box exists, you'll need to install one. It would be a good idea to check with your local codes and permits department before you begin. You'll need to be aware of what the specific laws are regarding the wiring. And, be sure that the electrical box you install has a stud in the middle of the fixture. Before you start this all, make sure you read and follow the manufacturer's instructions and pictures that came with the electrical box. Then, after you shut off the power to the room you're working in, you'll need to cut a hole in the ceiling for the box to go in. You'll need to run a wire, if there isn't already one, from your breaker or fuse box to the box.

Install the stained glass lamp onto the box by attaching the fixture to the electrical box. Use a hickey, which is a metal piece with a hole in the middle of it. The hickey fits over the stud and a nut is placed on it afterward. It helps to secure the fixture to the electrical box which is secured to the ceiling. Finally, make sure you have everything connected properly, and then turn the electric back on.

Home Theater Projectors - Keep That Lamp Burning

Increasingly, consumers who want to experience cinema-like viewing in their home opt for a home theater projector. These devices allow users to view their entertainment in a darkened room without the size restrictions of a television screen. However, as most owners will attest to, there is a somewhat significant maintenance expense associated with this type of set up; the expense of the lamp.

Lamp life in a projector is said to be between 2,500 and 4,000 hours but in some instances consumers have reported a lamp life as short as just a few hundred hours. With lamp replacements priced at a few hundred dollars, the shortened life span of a lamp can be an unwelcome surprise. Buyers should take heart however as there are numerous things they can do to help assure their new lamp burns brightly for as long as possible.

o Keep the projector stationary when possible. The filament within the lamp is fragile and is especially vulnerable to damage when it is hot; thus avoiding any jostling, especially when the unit is still hot, is important.

o Keep hands off of the lamp. Bare hands can leave oils on the surface. The oils can get burned onto the surface of the lamp which can cause cracking. Use of a tissue or soft cloth when removing/changing the lamp is wise.

o Turn the lamp off appropriately.

o Turn the lamp off about 5 minutes prior to turning off the projector. This allows the fan to cool the unit.

o Because turning the power on and off can stress the filament due to sudden voltage increase it is wise to avoid turning it on and off unnecessarily when taking a short break in viewing. Use of the "soft start" function can be beneficial if the projector has it.

o On the other hand, an auto standby feature can be useful to assure that the lamp is not inadvertently left burning when viewing is done.

o Keep it clean and cool. Projectors should be housed to assure they are not near a heat source and have adequate venting. There should be nothing obstructing their air intake or exhaust vent. The filter should be cleaned every 3-6 months and changed per manufacturer guidelines to assure good airflow and to keep dust off of the lamp.

As with any light source, the lamp within a projector will eventually fail and need to be replaced. However, proper use and maintenance can help to assure that the projector lamp will realize its full life expectancy rather than placing any unnecessary burden on the owner's budget.

Why Buy An Antique Lamp

First let us define an antique lamp as one from a bygone era which is a long indefinite time period. Determination of an antique lamp includes some time period designation normally in the form of "circa year". i.e. "circa 1905" which literally means "about the year 1905". So the term "antique lamp" will be used on this basis and often substituted with the term "vintage".

So you have decided to purchase a lamp. There are numerous design questions to consider such as height, girth, color, style, function and of course price. But have you seriously considered searching exclusively for a vintage lamp ? Probably not. Our entire culture is so strongly influenced by advertising of mass produced products including lamps, that we are programmed to think only in terms of what has been presented by the mass merchants. Aesthetically this has huge repercussions because we all end up owning the same home decor items and nothing is exclusive or unique. You end up buying the same lamp that your neighbor bought, that his neighbor bought and so forth.

Here is a real life story that happened just this very week. A very nice interior designer from Gastonia who specializes in fine high design home decor came into my lamp shop here in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She was looking for a unique and special lamp for one of her clients. After visiting with us and looking around for some time, she found a 1 of a kind cast metal and onyx lamp which we had designed and made here. We label our lamps individually so that our customers know a little something about them while browsing so she knew this lamp was exclusive to our store and that only one lamp had ever been made. She brought the lamp to the register and told me how much she loved the design and the fact that it was truly unique. I explained to her that we designed and made this lamp and that it was not available anywhere else. She was so happy about this and she told me of another recent lamp purchase which she had made... She had recently found this certain lamp a dealer's store and she thought it was really nice so she bought it. She had the lamp for some weeks when she was out shopping and found the exact lamp at another store. Right then it became obvious that this was a highly produced lamp and there were likely many thousands of them in stores everywhere worldwide. Let's suffice it to say that her lamp stock suddenly plunged ! She took the lamp back to the dealer immediately.

The story above exemplifies only one reason why you should consider an antique lamp. There are many more reasons to purchase an antique lamp not the least of which is quality and craftsmanship. The overwhelming majority of lamps produced today are made of resin (poly) of one sort or another. This material is wonderful in the way it can be molded and painted plus it is cheap to produce. But you will probably end up throwing these lamps away sooner or later. The material is brittle, hollow, fragile and it chips and breaks very easily. You will likely not be giving these lamps to your grand children, not even your children. This poly resin material reminds me of the chalk ware lamps from circa 1950. These lamps are rarely if ever found in one piece. They were cheap back then and they are usually worthless now. Buying a poly resin lamp is fine as long as you know that you are buying a throw away product. Antique lamps from the late 1800's - 1930 were very commonly made of the very finest quality materials such as iron, brass, bronze, marble, onyx and steel. Many of these antique lamps will still be around in another 100 years and their stock price is definitely up !

A very good reason to purchase an antique lamp is the current and future value of the lamp. Many of the antique lamps produced around 1900-1930 commonly sell for 10 - 20 times their original retail price. It is not unusual to find numerous lamps selling for 100 times the original retail price. There are some selling for incredible amounts compared to what they sold for when new - See WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE LAMP in the BIOGRAPHY below. See LAMP APPRAISALS PLUS LAMP HISTORY in the BIOGRAPHY below.

Finally, one of the best reasons to purchase an antique lamp is style and beauty. Many of these lamps produced during the Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts period are magnificent and timeless and their beauty and design are mimicked throughout nearly every culture on earth. They were made with care and with pride to last for many generations to enjoy.

Mew - New terrian, Nervous, She Came Home For Christmas - Live in Copenhagen 09

Jonas Bjerre (leadsinger) sings alone on the stage, and playing piano, very touching and beautiful moment. Jonas say some different things on danish, the first one is: "Nu skal jeg forsøge mig med en svær sang" which means: "Now I will try a difficult song", and then, in the middle of the song he stop and says: "Undskyld, jeg flytter lige lampen, jeg kan simpelthen ikke se, beklager" and that means: "Sorry, I need to remove the lamp, I can't see anything.. I apoligize". When "She Came Home For Christmas" began, a sort of rush went through the whole audience, it was so beautiful and so magical. The concert was on November 28th 2009, in Kb-hallen, Copenhagen.
